Lemonade in Ordrup

It’s not without reason that the lemonade has become a global phenomenon – this is Bindia’s freshly made version inspired by India and its culinary traditions.

Sugar, salt, and C

In varm countries you typically find at least one cooling drink, which contains sugar, salt, and lots of vitamin C. The sugar provides energy, while salt can be depleted due to excessive sweating. A lack of vitamin C, however, can be fatal.

This vitamin is a powerful antioxidant, which, among other things, plays a central role in keeping infections down, while it helps create important proteins, hormones, and chemical messengers.

One of the best sources is the lemon, which is thought to have originated in Northern India. This sourish and healthy fruit has been such a popular source of vitamin C that has lent its name to the global drink the lemonade, which generally is drink made from lemon (obviously), water, and a sweetener like syrup or honey.

Lemonade Bindia style

In India and its neighboring countries Pakistan and Bangladesh, it’s not uncommon that the lemonade also contains salt and ginger.

The ginger doesn’t just provide our lemonade some freshness and a bit of bite, its particular taste and health-promoting capabilities has made it popular in many kitchens and as a natural medicine. In the world’s oldest medical system, Ayurveda, ginger is almost a medicine cabinet in itself, as it’s being used to aid with a host of complications like dizziness, digestion, joint pain, sore throat, infections, just to name a few things.

That’s why ginger is a main ingredient in the Indian kitchen in everything from curries to both warm and cold beverages. That India is the world’s biggest producer of ginger (with nearly half the global production), yet only the world’s seventh largest exporter, tells you everything you need to know about how important this root is in this enormous contry.

The lemon and the ginger in Bindia’s lemonade is balanced with the fresh mint leaves, which both has a cooling as well as a refreshing effect.

Every day, we rinse, chop, cuts, and presses, so you can enjoy a fresh and refreshing lemonade every time you visit Bindia!
