Sustainability

We have a clear objective to be as climate-smart as possible

The Organic Cuisine Label

At Bindia, we believe that good food and a green footprint go hand in hand. Here you can read about what we do to make a difference.

The Organic Cuisine Label

The Organic Cuisine Label

We make certified organic Indian food (30-60%), which is the highest level among not only Indian restaurants but also among other comparable take-away places. We have had The Organic Cuisine Label since 2015, when we were the first in Scandinavia within the Indian kitchen to focus on organic products.

Natural Ingredients

Our food is inspired by Ayurvedic recipes, as in Ayurveda, food acts as preventive medicine and as the primary driver behind keeping your body healthy and your immune system strong. Therefore, we do not use additives, trans fats, dyes, or processed food.

No additives No trans fats No dyes

Almost No Food Waste

We have almost no food waste at Bindia – in fact, we have so little that the movement against food waste, Too Good To Go, found it unnecessary to include us on their app and platform, even though we had already signed a contract for collaboration.

The good, old-fashioned methods in Indian cooking give the food a natural and sustainable shelf life. Furthermore, we keep all our food refrigerated, the final dish is only made when you order it - and we never use more than what you get.

Only Power from Wind Turbines

All our power comes from renewable energy sources – in the past year only from wind turbines – certified by our electricity supplier NRGi.

By choosing green power, we ensure that our restaurants are operated without burdening the climate with CO2 emissions from fossil fuels. Wind energy is one of the cleanest forms of energy, and we are proud to be able to serve your food with a good conscience.

3.7/5 Klimatkompassen®

All our primary packaging is made of 100% unbleached and climate-smart paper. Both our bags and menu cards can be sorted as paper.

All paper used in the packaging is classified as a renewable raw material, as forests are replanted and harvested with respect for biodiversity. According to a Nordic study by IVL, using paper for manufacturing packaging and bags is more climate-smart than using packaging made of glass or plastic.

Our bottles are made of PET and can be recycled into many new products, including clothing such as fleece, fiberfill for sleeping bags, and down jackets.

All our printed materials are Nordic Swan Ecolabelled and follow The Graphic CSR Code as well as Print with Responsibility by using climate-friendly production with, among other things, Kodak Sonora Process Free printing plates, Low Energy UV printing technology, and 100% renewable and CO2-compensated electricity. In addition, the printing company we use has also been awarded the bronze medal by EcoVadis.
